Judy Parsons, Beloved Community Leader, Passes Away at 93

BREAKING NEWS: Judy Parsons, a cherished community leader and beloved matriarch, has passed away at the age of 93. She died peacefully at her home in Soquel, California, surrounded by family following a joyful visit with her children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter.

Judy’s death comes just months after the loss of her husband, Paul Parsons, with whom she shared over 70 years of marriage. The couple was known for their deep involvement in local community initiatives, including First Night and the creation of Anna Jean Cummins Park.

Born in 1932 in Stockton, California, Judy was raised by her grandparents after losing her mother at a young age. She graduated from San Jose State University and was a proud member of the Chi Omega sorority. Judy met Paul at Cowell’s Beach, and their love story flourished in Santa Cruz, where they enjoyed summer days at the amusement park and were active supporters of the Oakland A’s.

Throughout her life, Judy was a fierce advocate for progressive politics and community service. She worked with the Girl Scouts and served in various roles, including as president of the Soquel Pioneers. Her impact on the community was profound, as she helped many through her role at Parsons Insurance Agency in Capitola.

Family and friends remember Judy as a passionate individual who loved to travel, sharing magical stories from adventures in Central and South America, the Caribbean, and a memorable safari in Africa. She was also known for her vibrant personality, often seen driving her red Prius, proudly displaying her license plate, “I LY Q.”

Her legacy of kindness and community service will be honored through donations to local charities, as per her wishes. A celebration of Judy’s life is planned for the upcoming holiday season, where family and friends will gather to remember the incredible woman she was.

Judy Parsons is survived by her three children, Randall Parsons, Stacey Ely, and Pepe Parsons, her five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Her passing leaves a significant void in the hearts of many, but her spirit will continue to inspire those she touched throughout her remarkable life.
