Georgia DOT Awards $86.3 Million in Urgent Infrastructure Projects

UPDATE: The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has just awarded $86.3 million in contracts for vital infrastructure projects across the state, confirming the allocations during the monthly State Transportation Board meeting held in October. This announcement, made public today, underscores the state’s commitment to improving transportation and infrastructure.

The contracts, awarded to the lowest qualified bidders on October 31, 2025, include a total of 22 projects that will significantly enhance road conditions and safety for Georgia drivers. The largest of these projects involves a major resurfacing initiative on I-75/State Route 401, stretching 17.245 miles from the Florida state line to just north of US 84/SR 38 in Lowndes County. This substantial project, valued at approximately $31 million, has been awarded to Reames and Son Construction Company based in Valdosta.

These resurfacing efforts alone account for about 72 percent of the total funds awarded, with six other resurfacing projects bringing the total to around $62.5 million. Among the notable contracts are:

– Construction of a bridge on Moultrie-Lenox Road over Gum Creek in Colquitt County, valued at nearly $2 million, awarded to Southern Concrete of Albany.
– Milling and rehabilitation of approximately 17 miles of State Route 33 in Brooks and Thomas counties, valued at $4.8 million, also going to Reames and Son of Valdosta.
– Construction of a bridge on the Homerville Bypass over Woodyard Creek in Clinch County, valued at just over $2 million, awarded to Griffin Grading and Concrete, LLC, from Cordele.

These developments are crucial as they not only aim to facilitate smoother travel across Georgia but also stimulate local economies through job creation and improved infrastructure. GDOT’s proactive approach demonstrates a commitment to enhancing the state’s roadway network, which is vital for business and community connectivity.

Residents and travelers are encouraged to stay informed about potential construction impacts on their daily commutes. As these projects progress, GDOT will provide updates to ensure the public is aware of any changes or detours.

Expect further announcements as work begins on these projects, which are expected to commence soon. This investment is a significant step toward modernizing Georgia’s infrastructure and improving public safety on the roads.

Stay tuned for more updates on these projects and their impacts across the state.
