Culinary Architecture Announces Urgent Relocation to Little Italy

BREAKING: Culinary Architecture, the beloved gourmet market in Pigtown, is set to relocate to Little Italy, with plans to open in a larger space by January 2024. The shop, known for its globally inspired grocery selections and housemade pastries, has been a staple at 767 Washington Blvd. since its inception in 2015.

Chef and co-owner Sylva Lin announced the move in a recent social media post that has already garnered significant attention from their 4,100 Instagram followers. “We’re to the point where we can’t operate, very well, all of the different things that Culinary Architecture does,” Lin explained, highlighting the business’s growth in both customer base and social media presence.

The new location, previously home to Italian restaurant Lew Gambino’s at 236 S. High St., promises to offer even more to the community. Lin expressed her excitement, stating, “I found my home,” indicating that the new space will enhance Culinary Architecture’s ability to serve its loyal clientele.

The relocation is a response to the overwhelming success of Culinary Architecture, which has expanded into neighboring properties over the years. Lin hopes the new venue will allow for increased foot traffic and a broader range of offerings, including more perishable goods, tasting programs, and an enhanced cheese counter.

Culinary Architecture’s departure from Pigtown brings a bittersweet sentiment for Lin, who has deep roots in the community. “When you know everybody’s baby, you know when they graduate… it’s hard to tell somebody that we’re going,” she shared, reflecting on her connections with customers.

Despite the emotional weight of the announcement, feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Customers are thrilled about Lin’s next steps, with many expressing excitement about watching her business grow. “They know how hard I work… and they’re like, ‘We’re so excited to watch you grow,’” Lin remarked.

The new location in Little Italy aligns perfectly with the area’s culinary reputation, and Lin envisions Culinary Architecture becoming an iconic destination for food lovers in Baltimore. “Every city has an iconic place for food. We want to be that in Baltimore,” Lin concluded.

As the community anticipates this transition, Culinary Architecture is poised to redefine its presence in the vibrant Little Italy neighborhood, promising to retain the beloved elements that have made it a local favorite.
