UPDATE: Summit County ski areas are gearing up for a busy holiday season by expanding terrain just in time for Christmas. With the holiday less than a week away, ski resorts are actively increasing their offerings to accommodate the influx of visitors.
Despite a notably sparse snowpack this season, Colorado ski areas are taking action. Snowmakers have been working tirelessly to ensure that as much terrain as possible is available to skiers and snowboarders.
At Copper Mountain Resort, significant developments are underway. Starting on Friday, December 19, the Family Cross course will open off the High Point trail, along with Central Flats featuring one jump and around 20 trail features. The highly anticipated 22-foot Superpipe will open to the public on Monday, December 22. Additionally, limited uphill access will be available from the same day, allowing uphill travelers to register and obtain necessary passes.
Meanwhile, Arapahoe Basin is set to open the popular Ramrod run, an intermediate blue trail, either later today or tomorrow. Skiers can expect improved conditions as the ski area continues to open more of its lower mountain.
Over at Loveland Ski Area, conditions are looking favorable after 3 inches of new snow fell on December 18. The resort has opened more terrain off of Lift 6, including Keno and Black Jack, with plans to reopen its terrain park this Saturday, December 20.
In exciting news for snowboard fans, Breckenridge Ski Resort is gearing up to host the Rockstar Energy Open starting on Friday, December 19. This event will feature top snowboarders, including Olympic gold medalist Red Gerard. Although Peak 7’s opening date is yet to be confirmed, the anticipation is building as it will expand the resort’s offerings significantly.
Lastly, Keystone Resort will open the Anticipation run on December 19, enhancing accessibility for skiers. Keystone is also expanding its night skiing operations, providing guests with nighttime access from December 20 through January 3, 2026.
