Disneyland Paris is set to transform its Walt Disney Studios Park into the newly named Disney Adventure World with a significant investment of $2.5 billion. The overhaul aims to rejuvenate the park after years of struggles, introducing themed areas based on popular franchises such as Frozen and The Lion King. The much-anticipated World of Frozen will officially open on March 29, 2024, alongside an array of new attractions, dining options, and entertainment experiences.
The expansion will feature a new entry promenade dubbed Adventure Way, a central lake known as Adventure Bay, and an innovative nighttime show called “Cascade of Lights.” The park aims to attract new visitors and entice returning guests with these enhancements, showcasing Disney’s commitment to its European resort.
New Attractions and Experiences
At the heart of this transformation is the World of Frozen, designed to immerse visitors in the enchanting world of the beloved film franchise. A key highlight will be the Frozen Ever After boat ride, which will mirror similar attractions at Epcot and Tokyo DisneySea. This ride will guide guests through iconic scenes such as the Valley of the Trolls and the climactic Arendelle Bay finale, complete with music from the films like “Let It Go.”
Additionally, guests can look forward to the “Celebration in Arendelle” show, featuring three Viking longships that will narrate the annual Snowflower Festival. This show will introduce a new generation of Audio-Animatronics, including a more interactive Olaf character, offering a modern twist to the beloved snowman.
Dining options will also enhance the guest experience, with establishments like the Regal View Restaurant & Lounge. This venue will serve Nordic-inspired cuisine in a beautifully adorned setting, featuring artwork celebrating Disney princesses and their animal companions. Another quick-service location, the Nordic Crowns Tavern, will offer themed desserts and snacks, ensuring that culinary delights are a part of the adventure.
Expansion Plans and Future Attractions
The expansion does not stop at the World of Frozen. A new Lion King themed land is currently under construction and is expected to open by 2027 or 2028. This area will immerse visitors in the Pride Lands, featuring a log flume ride called Pride Rock. This attraction promises to blend storytelling with thrilling drops and advanced Audio-Animatronics, enhancing the overall experience for families and fans alike.
As part of the park’s new layout, the Adventure Way promenade will operate as the main thoroughfare, providing a vibrant atmosphere filled with live entertainment, gardens, and numerous dining options. Seasonal performances will include appearances by characters like Mary Poppins and Minnie Mouse, ensuring that the promenade remains lively and engaging throughout the year.
One of the standout features of the transformation will be the “Cascade of Lights”, a pioneering aquatic drone nighttime spectacular. This show will utilize hundreds of drones and choreographed fountains to create a breathtaking visual experience set to a new orchestral score. The show aims to tell stories of courage and imagination, featuring characters from films such as Mulan and Moana.
