UPDATE: A suspect has been arrested just hours after a deadly shooting in Balch Springs, Texas. Authorities confirm that Tyrus Lynn McKnight, 24, was taken into custody less than 11 hours after the fatal incident, which occurred on December 21, 2025.
At approximately 8:23 PM, Balch Springs Police received a distress call reporting gunfire at an apartment complex located in the 12000 block of Quail Drive. Officers quickly arrived and found Marcus Jones, the adult male victim, lying on the ground with serious gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital but tragically succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.
Police detectives rapidly initiated an investigation, interviewing witnesses and reviewing video evidence. They identified a suspect vehicle—a 2021 silver Hyundai Accent—and gathered critical information from a witness who reported seeing the victim approach the vehicle and hand over a backpack just moments before hearing gunshots.
