Moore Launches Urgent Free Christmas Tree Pickup Service Now

UPDATE: The City of Moore, Oklahoma, has just announced an urgent initiative to assist residents with post-holiday cleanup. Starting today, January 16, 2024, the city is offering a completely free Christmas tree pickup service, ensuring an eco-friendly disposal method for festive firs.

This service runs until January 16, and residents are urged to schedule their pickups immediately. Instead of leaving trees in polycarts or by the curb, locals must call the sanitation department at 405-793-5070 or complete an online form to arrange for a special pickup.

The initiative aims to maintain clean public spaces and facilitate the recycling or repurposing of Christmas trees, promoting environmental responsibility in the community. The City of Moore emphasized the importance of this program on social media, stating, “Let’s keep Moore clean and green.” This reflects a commitment to community engagement and eco-friendly practices.

For those who prefer to handle their own disposal, a drop-off option is also available. Residents can bring their trees to the Public Works facility at 512 NW 27th St. on Fridays, specifically on December 26, January 2, January 9, and January 16, from 7 AM to 5 PM. To utilize this service, individuals must provide an ID or a City of Moore utility bill to confirm residency.

This holiday tree recycling program not only simplifies disposal but also encourages residents to engage in environmentally friendly practices as they transition into the new year. By participating, Moore residents contribute to a culture of sustainability and community responsibility, extending the spirit of giving beyond the holiday season.

Residents are encouraged to act quickly to take advantage of this limited-time service and help keep Moore beautiful. With the holiday season ending, now is the perfect time to schedule your tree pickup and support local environmental efforts.
