Penelope Del Barba (nee Kleronomos), aged 91, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2025, in Oldsmar, Florida. Known affectionately as Penny, she was a cherished member of her family and community, leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter.
Born in the Chicago area, Penny was the daughter of Spiro and Marion Kleronomos. She grew up alongside her late brother, Peter, and later married Charles Milonas, DDS, with whom she had two children. Following their separation, she found love again with the late Gene Del Barba. Penny is survived by her devoted daughter, Maria (Edward Q.) McCarthy, a late son, Louis Milonas, grandsons Michael J. (Kate) McCarthy and Andrew J. McCarthy, and her great granddaughter, Madison McCarthy.
Penny’s early career was spent as a bookkeeper, a role that showcased her diligence and attention to detail. However, she was perhaps best known for her vibrant personality and diverse interests. A talented golfer, she became a club champion and recorded two holes-in-one in a single year. Her passion for games extended to bridge, where she enjoyed countless hours with friends.
In addition to her love of sports, Penny was an enthusiastic supporter of the Tampa Bay Rays, celebrating their victories with unbridled joy. She also had a playful side, often hoping that a lucky scratch-off lottery ticket would allow her to throw a grand celebration for her family and friends.
Penny’s family expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Arden Courts of Largo and Suncoast Hospice for their kindness and support during her final days. The family will hold private services and interment to honor her memory.
In lieu of flowers, they encourage those wishing to remember Penny to consider planting a living memorial. Her spirit and warmth will be missed by all who knew her.
