Urgent Candlelight Vigil for Fallen Trooper Cpl. Matthew Snook Tonight

UPDATE: A candlelight vigil will be held tonight in honor of fallen Delaware State Police trooper Cpl. Matthew “Ty” Snook, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty. The event is set to take place at the Police Athletic League (PAL) Center at 7529 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, starting at 7 p.m.

This urgent gathering follows the devastating incident where 44-year-old Rahman Rose allegedly shot and killed Corporal Snook at the DMV in Minquadale last Tuesday. A responding officer from New Castle County fatally shot Rose shortly after. Cpl. Snook leaves behind a heartbroken family, including his wife and a one-year-old daughter.

Attendees are encouraged to RSVP ahead of time to ensure accurate planning for the event. The community’s response is expected to be significant as they come together to honor Snook’s memory and sacrifice.

Additionally, a celebration of life is scheduled for January 5, 2025, at the University of Delaware’s Bob Carpenter Center in Newark, allowing even more supporters to pay their respects.

This vigil represents a moment of solidarity and remembrance, inviting all to reflect on the bravery of those who serve in law enforcement. As the community mourns this tragic loss, the support for Cpl. Snook’s family continues to grow.

Stay tuned for more updates as this situation evolves.
