UPDATE: Former Syracuse quarterback Justin Lamson has propelled Montana State University to the FCS Championship game against Illinois State, set to kick off at 7:30 p.m. today on ESPN. His impressive performance has made waves in college football and has fans buzzing with excitement.
Lamson’s journey to this pivotal moment has been anything but ordinary. Initially a highly sought-after recruit, he caught the eye of Bobcat coach Brent Vigen in 2019 while playing in high school. Vigen recalls watching Lamson from his office during the tumultuous COVID-19 pandemic, when contact was limited. “He was serious about us,” Vigen stated.
Originally committed to Syracuse, Lamson later transferred to Stanford in 2023, where he showcased his talent as a backup, throwing four touchdown passes in the 2024 season. However, after a coaching change at Bowling Green, Lamson found himself searching for a new opportunity.
In December, Vigen targeted Lamson for the Bobcats, and by the end of spring drills, he was named the starting quarterback. “I had a challenging fall camp,” Lamson shared. “It was a humbling experience. But once I was named the starter, I felt like a true leader within the offense.”
As of now, Lamson boasts an impressive record of 24 touchdown passes against just three interceptions, along with 14 rushing touchdowns, making him one of the most efficient quarterbacks in the FCS. His leadership has been a game-changer for the 13-2 Bobcats.
“It was the way the story was meant to be written,” Vigen remarked. “I’m just grateful that things work out the way they do.”
Tonight’s championship game is not just a personal triumph for Lamson but a testament to resilience and the power of seizing the right opportunities. Fans are eagerly awaiting what promises to be a thrilling showdown, with Lamson at the helm leading the charge for the Bobcats.
As the game approaches, the excitement builds, and the stakes couldn’t be higher. Will Lamson’s remarkable journey culminate in a championship victory? Tune in at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN to find out!
