Adidas has announced the release of a special edition of Derrick Rose’s first signature sneaker to mark the retirement of his jersey with the Chicago Bulls. This exclusive model will be available only at the United Center, with the retirement ceremony scheduled for January 24, 2026.
The sneaker, known as the Adizero Rose 1 “Retirement Ceremony”, is designed in the classic black and red colorway associated with the Bulls. A notable feature is the unique insole graphic, which depicts a hand rising from behind the Adidas logo, cradling a rose. This artistic element serves as a tribute to Rose’s impactful legacy in Chicago basketball.
Derrick Rose first debuted the Rose 1 sneaker in 2010, coinciding with his remarkable MVP season. The shoe was crafted with a padded ankle featuring a cutout for enhanced flexibility and support, which complemented Rose’s ankle brace. The design incorporated Adidas’ innovative SprintSkin and SprintFrame technology, while the podded PureMotion outsole drew inspiration from the brand’s Feet You Wear series from the 1990s.
In 2023, Adidas introduced a remastered version of the Rose 1, dubbed the “Restomod.” This updated model included modern PureMotion and LightStrike technology to improve performance while retaining the shoe’s original aesthetic. The Rose series, which transitioned to the “D Rose” branding from its third iteration onwards, ultimately expanded to include a total of 11 models, along with three budget-friendly D Rose Son of Chi versions released between 2021 and 2023.
The Adizero Rose 1 “Retirement Ceremony” will be available exclusively through Foot Locker, with in-store pickups starting on the release date. Interested buyers can now enter a draw via the Foot Locker app to secure their pair, which is priced at $130.
