A new installment in the beloved horror franchise “Evil Dead” is officially in the works, marking the seventh film in the series. This upcoming addition follows the original trilogy by Sam Raimi, the 2013 remake, and the recent “Evil Dead Rise” and “Evil Dead Burn.” Directed by Francis Galluppi, known for his work on “The Last Stop in Yuma County,” the film is currently untitled, and details about its plot remain undisclosed.
Leading the cast is British actress Charlotte Hope (“The Nun,” “Catch Me a Killer”), alongside American actor Zach Gilford (“Midnight Mass,” “Friday Night Lights”). The film will also feature a talented ensemble from Australia, including Jessica McNamee (“Mortal Kombat,” “The Meg”), Josh Helman (“Mad Max: Fury Road,” “Thirteen Lives”), Ella Newton (“Dangerous Animals,” “Harrow”), Elizabeth Cullen (“Goolagong,” “Last King of the Cross”), and newcomer Ella Oliphant.
New Line Cinema and Sony Pictures have committed to co-financing the project. Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi will serve as producers, while Bruce Campbell takes on an executive producer role. The distribution of the film will be handled by Warner Bros. Pictures in the United States and by Sony on an international scale.
As for the previous sequel in the franchise, “Evil Dead Burn,” directed by Sébastien Vaniček, was filmed last year in New Zealand and is set to premiere on July 24, 2024. The anticipation for both new films reflects the enduring popularity of the “Evil Dead” brand, which continues to capture the imagination of horror enthusiasts around the globe.
With production set to start soon, fans of the franchise are eager to see how Galluppi’s vision will unfold, continuing the legacy of a series that has terrified and entertained audiences for decades.
