URGENT UPDATE: Japanese idol girl group my fav has officially announced their disbandment, ending a tumultuous journey of rebranding and lineup changes. In a heartfelt post shared on social media by the group, management confirmed that my fav will conclude their activities in March 2026, allowing members to focus on their individual careers.
The disbandment follows a series of transformations since the group’s inception as Last Idol in 2017. After initially halting activities in March 2022 due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, they attempted a revival in September 2023 under the name SHINSEI LAST IDOL. In June 2024, they rebranded once more to my fav, aiming to reconnect with their fanbase.
Despite hopes for a stable future, recent discussions among members and staff led to the decision to disband. The announcement has sparked mixed reactions among long-time fans, with some expressing disappointment over the finality of the group’s journey, while others voiced their support for the members’ decision to pursue new paths.
In their statement,
“We hope that our fans continue to support each member as they embark on their individual journeys,”
the management emphasized the group’s gratitude for the fan support over the years.
As my fav prepares for their final group activities next month, fans are encouraged to cherish the remaining moments with the group. This disbandment marks an emotional chapter for many who have followed the group’s evolution through its ups and downs.
Stay tuned for further updates as my fav concludes their legacy in the idol industry.
