Melbourne Bar Brawl Goes Viral After Flying Chair Incident

A chaotic incident at Bar 20 in Melbourne has captured global attention, resulting in a viral video that has been viewed over 27 million times in just 24 hours. The altercation began when a patron made a foul-mouthed demand for a beer, leading to a bizarre series of events that ended with a chair being thrown and a man knocked unconscious.

The trouble started around 9:20 p.m. on Friday when two men entered the venue located on King Street. According to Michael Trimble, co-owner of Bar 20, the pair displayed aggressive behavior towards the staff even before ordering drinks. This raised concerns among the staff, prompting caution in their service.

As the barmaid attempted to serve a bottle of VB, one of the men shouted, “Just open the f-f-king beer.” This outburst marked a turning point that led to the involvement of security personnel. The situation escalated quickly, requiring security to intervene and remove the pair from the bar. What should have been a quick ejection turned into a lengthy eight-minute struggle, as the two men refused to leave peacefully.

Trimble described the extended ejection process as “crazy” and unlike anything he had experienced in his twelve years in the industry. He noted, “Most people are out the door 30 seconds after being asked to leave. But this whole thing just went on for ages.”

Once outside, the tension intensified. One of the men briefly wielded a bollard as a weapon, but the real twist occurred when the victim of the incident returned to apologize for his friend’s behavior. While he attempted to de-escalate the situation, his friend raided a nearby Korean restaurant, seizing a wooden chair. Despite protests from staff that it was their “top chair,” he hurled it toward the bar.

The chair missed its intended target, the security personnel, and instead struck the apologetic man in the back of the head, rendering him unconscious. The surreal moment was captured on CCTV, which has since contributed to the viral status of the incident. Trimble expressed disbelief at the attention the event has garnered, stating, “I’ve seen plenty of instances of people making clowns of themselves, but nothing with the potential to go viral like that.”

In the aftermath, Trimble received the chair as a peculiar piece of memorabilia. He has since dressed it in a Bar 20 shirt and placed it on display in the bar, noting its newfound significance to the establishment.

The identities of the two men involved remain undisclosed, but their escapade has sparked laughter and disbelief worldwide, showcasing the unpredictable nature of nightlife and the unexpected ways in which a simple night out can spiral into chaos.
