IKEA to Launch First Oklahoma Store in Tulsa by 2026

Tulsa, Oklahoma, is set to welcome its first IKEA store, as announced by the home furnishings retailer on February 17, 2025. The new location will occupy a 51,000-square-foot space at the Tulsa Hills Shopping Center and is scheduled to open in 2026. While an exact opening date has yet to be confirmed, this marks a significant expansion for IKEA, highlighting its commitment to reaching new markets.

The upcoming store will be notably smaller than typical IKEA outlets, which usually span around 300,000 square feet. This shift towards smaller-format locations is part of the company’s broader strategy to adapt to changing consumer preferences and expand its footprint across the United States. The Tulsa store is one of several new locations planned nationwide, with additional openings slated for cities such as Los Angeles, Chicago, and Fort Collins, Colorado.

The announcement is part of IKEA’s 2025 Annual Summary, which reported total sales of $5.3 billion for the fiscal year. The company also noted that more than 61 million customers visited its stores during this period, despite facing various economic challenges.

While specific hiring details and construction timelines for the Tulsa store have not been disclosed, IKEA has indicated that further information will be released as the opening date approaches. In addition to Tulsa, the company has announced plans for new stores in Huntsville, Alabama; University Park in Dallas; Phoenix; Rockwall in Dallas; the Chantilly/Dulles area in the Washington region; and Houston-Webster, Texas.

The decision to open in Tulsa reflects IKEA’s ongoing efforts to diversify its market presence and cater to a wider audience. As the company continues to evolve, it remains focused on providing accessible home furnishing solutions to customers across the nation.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available regarding the Tulsa location and IKEA’s expansion plans.
