Seuss on the Loose Returns to Elizabethton on March 7

URGENT UPDATE: The beloved event Seuss on the Loose is set to return to downtown Elizabethton on Saturday, March 7, from noon to 3 p.m., promising a vibrant celebration of reading and the whimsical works of Dr. Seuss. This much-anticipated gathering is hosted by the Elizabethton Parks and Recreation Department, Main Street Elizabethton, and the Elizabethton-Carter County Public Library.

Families can expect an exciting afternoon filled with activities scattered throughout downtown Elizabethton and at Covered Bridge Park. The festivities kick off at the Elizabethton-Carter County Public Library, where attendees can grab a “Sneetch Sheet” and a map to guide them to various participating locations.

The streets will come alive with guest readers, fun activities, crafts, and delightful Seuss-themed treats. Participating businesses and community organizations include August Muse, Red Legacy Recovery, The Curious Moon Apothecary, and more.

After collecting stickers from each stop, families are invited to head to Covered Bridge Park, where the park will be transformed with decorations inspired by Dr. Seuss’s enchanting stories. Iconic characters such as the Cat in the Hat and The Grinch will make special appearances, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Community partners will host a variety of activities, including free inflatables and food trucks, ensuring there is no shortage of entertainment. Participants must submit their completed “Sneetch Sheets” to the red mailbox in the gazebo by 2:45 p.m. for a chance to win exciting prizes.
