Mountain Gap School Marks 60 Years of Community Legacy

Mountain Gap School in Huntsville, Alabama, celebrated its 60th anniversary on February 4, 2024, bringing together parents, students, teachers, and alumni to reflect on the community’s rich history. This milestone comes at a critical time as the future of the school faces uncertainty due to proposed closures as part of a district realignment by Huntsville City Schools.

The event served as a poignant reminder of the school’s impact on the community. Attendees shared stories and experiences that highlighted the unique bond formed over the years. “We’ve done a lot of right things in this city,” stated Robert ‘Coach P’ Person, a long-time educator at Mountain Gap. “You can look and see by the product we put out there, that being our kids, and our scores reflect that.”
