Urgent Power Outage Affects Over 1,000 in Waldo County

BREAKING: Over 1,000 Central Maine Power customers in Waldo County are currently without electricity due to a significant outage caused by a downed power line. The situation escalated around 7 p.m. on Tuesday when the Liberty Fire Department reported visible flames atop a utility pole on Route 220.

As of 8 p.m., approximately 750 of the 880 CMP customers in Liberty are affected, according to real-time data from the utility’s website. The outage has also disrupted power for more than 200 customers in Knox County.

In nearby towns, the impact is widespread, with over 260 customers in Montville and more than 140 in Union also experiencing outages. Additionally, dozens of residents in Searsmont and Appleton are without power, further escalating concerns in the region.

“We are actively working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible,”

stated a CMP representative.
