UPDATE: In a dramatic rescue earlier today, police and brave bystanders in Fort Worth, Texas, successfully lifted an overturned car to save an infant trapped underneath. The incident occurred on October 27, 2025, following a collision on Interstate 30 that left a woman and her child ejected from their vehicle.
According to reports from the Fort Worth Police Department, officers Sgt. Nichols and Officer Bounds rushed to the scene after receiving distress calls. Body camera footage shows the officers arriving to find a Hyundai Veloster overturned, with several good Samaritans already searching for the missing baby.
An officer urgently called for assistance, stating, “Hey, we need to move the car. I think the baby’s under there.” Without hesitation, bystanders formed a human chain, working alongside officers to lift the wreckage. Their teamwork was instrumental—within moments, the officer reached under the windshield and pulled the unresponsive child to safety.
Sgt. Nichols immediately commenced chest compressions, while Officer Bounds focused on clearing the baby’s airway. The quick actions of this heroic team made a critical difference; moments later, the infant’s pulse returned, and faint sounds indicated the baby was regaining consciousness.
Emergency medical teams arrived shortly after, taking both mother and child to the hospital. Police later confirmed that both are now in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery.
The Fort Worth Police Department has expressed their immense gratitude, stating, “We are beyond proud of the life-saving actions performed by Sgt.
