New reports confirm the launch of the **Grateful Harvest Community Garden** in Pottstown, a transformative initiative by **First Presbyterian Church** and **Trellis for Tomorrow**. This project, located at **750 N. Evans Street**, aims to provide fresh produce, educational opportunities, and foster community connections, with its grand opening celebrated on **October 26, 2023**.
The garden, supported by funding from the **American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA)**, is designed with sustainability and accessibility at its core. It features **15 rentable garden beds**, including accessible options equipped with **drip irrigation** and **deer fencing**. These beds will be available beginning in **2026**, allowing local residents to grow their own food while also contributing to community food programs.
Currently, volunteers will spearhead harvests to supply fresh produce to local food access programs, ensuring that community members benefit immediately from this initiative.
“This garden is an extension of our faith in action,” stated **Susan Moyer**, Mission Committee Chair at First Presbyterian Church. “It embodies our values of service and neighborliness. We’re thrilled to see this vision becoming a reality.”
**Jennifer Anderson**, Executive Director of Trellis for Tomorrow, emphasized the importance of food security and sustainability. “This partnership represents a shared vision to empower individuals through food cultivation and community collaboration,” she said.
The launch event included garden tours, refreshments, and local speakers, which helped inform the community about how to rent a garden bed or volunteer for the upcoming season. Trellis for Tomorrow is committed to providing seedlings, tools, and educational support, using the garden as a platform for skill-building and engagement with local food systems.
As **First Presbyterian Church** celebrates **177 years** of promoting service and civic engagement, the **Grateful Harvest Community Garden** stands as a testament to its dedication.
