Fairview Stagecrafters Present Hilarious Comedy ‘Penny For Your Thoughts’

The Fairview Stagecrafters and Thespian Troupe 8671 are set to stage the comedy “Penny For Your Thoughts” from November 14 to 16, 2023, at the Frank W. Barr Auditorium in Fairview Park, Ohio. Directed by Fairview High School English teacher Craig Cohan, this production promises to resonate with anyone who has ever found themselves overwhelmed by their own thoughts.

Cohan describes the play, written by Scott Haan, as a delightful mix of humor and heart, drawing parallels to the acclaimed Pixar film “Inside Out.” He notes, “This is like the adult version where the girlfriend mishears her boyfriend, and then all we see are her emotions on stage with her and how they compete.” The narrative centers on Penny Ramsey, whose internal struggle with love and loyalty is hilariously portrayed through five distinct voices in her head, leading to comedic misunderstandings and a love triangle.

The production features a talented cast of 15 members who are eager to bring this whimsical story to life. Fairview High School sophomore Autumn Cuscire expresses her enthusiasm for the experience, stating, “I enjoy being in Stagecrafters because I love all of the people and performing in general. There’s a great environment here at Fairview, and I really enjoy being in the shows.”

Senior cast member Grace Wering echoes this sentiment, highlighting the familial atmosphere fostered by Cohan. “I love doing plays with Mr. Cohan because we are a real family. Every day makes me excited to come and seeing our play come together is one of my biggest joys in life,” she shares.

Cohan emphasizes the camaraderie and supportive environment that defines the troupe. “We half-jokingly say, ‘We never lose,’” he remarks. “We always have an audience, and we always put on successful shows.” His blend of humor, including his well-known dad jokes, brings an additional layer of enjoyment to rehearsals, making the process memorable for the cast.

As anticipation builds for “Penny For Your Thoughts,” the Fairview community looks forward to an entertaining performance that not only promises laughter but also a glimpse into the complexities of love and emotion. The production is expected to draw significant interest, showcasing the talent and dedication of the young performers involved.
