URGENT UPDATE: The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has confirmed that the road through Roseau Lake Wildlife Management Area (WMA) will remain closed during the upcoming deer season. Starting on Saturday, November 8, 2025, hunters in Deer Permit Area (DPA) 267 are advised that the “lake bottom” road will be inaccessible for the entire nine-day firearms deer season due to ongoing construction.
The closure affects 360th Avenue, specifically portions of Unorganized Township sections 17, 20, and 29. Access will be restricted beginning a quarter-mile north of the Stoie Bridge, which crosses the Roseau River on 360th Avenue, also known as County Road 123. This crucial closure is part of the larger Roseau Lake Rehabilitation Project, aimed at restoring the 3,000-acre Roseau Lake and minimizing flood risks to surrounding private lands.
The DNR emphasizes that this closure is essential for the safety of both workers and the environment. With the deer season set to kick off, hunters are encouraged to plan their routes accordingly. The project, a collaboration between the Minnesota DNR and the Roseau River Watershed District, is vital for reducing flooding and protecting local infrastructure during high water events.
For the latest updates, hunters and the public can visit the DNR’s Roseau Lake WMA webpage or contact the Roseau River WMA office at (218) 452-7610.
This closure impacts the hunting community, as many depend on these areas for their seasonal activities. Ensure you stay informed and share this urgent news with fellow hunters to avoid any surprises this deer season.
