According to state police, a tractor-trailer traveling eastbound on Route 40 veered into the westbound lanes and collided head-on with a Ford pickup truck. This initial collision led to a second head-on crash involving the pickup truck and a Chevrolet express van. The impact was catastrophic, with the drivers of both the tractor-trailer and the Ford pickup truck, along with a front-seat passenger in the van, pronounced dead at the scene.
