Bend High Girls Soccer Triumphs Over Wilsonville to Reach Championship

In a decisive match on November 11, 2025, the Bend High girls soccer team ended the championship aspirations of Wilsonville, defeating the Wildcats 3-1 to secure a spot in the Class 5A state championship. The second-seeded Lava Bears showcased their skill and determination at a packed 15th Street Field in Bend, effectively avenging their previous year’s loss to Wilsonville, who had dominated the state scene with four consecutive titles.

Bend High started strong, scoring three goals in the first half, including two within the opening four minutes. Junior midfielder Harper Moffenbeier set the tone early, heading in a corner kick from junior forward Shea Manfredi just two minutes into the game. Merely two minutes later, senior midfielder Meredith King doubled the lead, chipping a goal off an assist from sophomore defender Tatyana Fobi.

Wilsonville, aiming for its sixth consecutive appearance in the championship match, quickly responded. In the sixth minute, senior Camryn Schaan, who was pivotal in last year’s title match with two goals, scored to bring the Wildcats within one. Despite this brief spark, Bend High reasserted control when Manfredi scored again in the 18th minute, extending the lead to 3-1. This score held for the remainder of the match, securing Bend’s place in the championship.

Bend High coach Scott Sagar expressed pride in his team’s performance, stating, “This has been an accumulation of all the hard work that we have put in. This is proof that when you stick to the game plan, and believe, you can do this. That is how we got this.”

The Lava Bears will now face top-seeded North Eugene, which defeated No. 4 Summit 1-0 in the other semifinal match. The championship clash is scheduled for Saturday at Hillsboro Stadium.

With this victory, Bend High not only reclaims its place among the elite but also sends a clear message about their readiness to contend for the state title. This is a significant moment for the team, marking a new chapter in their pursuit of glory in the Class 5A girls soccer scene.

As the excitement builds for the upcoming championship, fans will undoubtedly be watching closely to see if Bend High can complete their journey and secure the state title.
