UPDATE: A man has been charged with attempted murder following a road rage shooting incident on the Livermore freeway that occurred on June 11, 2023. Authorities have issued a warrant for the arrest of Luis Guerrero, aged 36, who allegedly fired multiple shots at another driver during the altercation.
The shooting took place around 9:02 AM on eastbound Interstate 580 near Flynn Road. The victim, a man driving a Tesla, was engaged in a heated argument with Guerrero, who was behind the wheel of a 2005 GMC Yukon SUV. Eyewitness accounts reveal that Guerrero pulled alongside the Tesla and opened fire, although fortunately, the driver was unharmed.
Guerrero had initially been arrested on the same day as the shooting after the victim successfully reported the vehicle’s license plate number to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). However, he later made bail and has been at large since. Following the incident, Guerrero was charged with several offenses including assault with a semi-automatic firearm, shooting at an occupied vehicle, and carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle.
The CHP acted swiftly after the shooting, alerting local law enforcement agencies, which led to Guerrero’s vehicle being spotted by San Leandro police at approximately 11:25 AM. Officers apprehended Guerrero, who resisted arrest and was tased. After receiving medical attention, he was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
Authorities later discovered an unregistered .45 caliber pistol and shell casings inside the Yukon, further implicating Guerrero in the serious crime. Despite these charges, Guerrero managed to secure his release on bail, and his current whereabouts remain unknown.
