Wilding Brands Acquires Upslope Brewing in Major Deal

URGENT UPDATE: Wilding Brands has officially acquired Boulder’s Upslope Brewing Co., marking a significant move in the craft beverage industry. This acquisition, announced today, solidifies Wilding’s position as a major player in Colorado’s brewing landscape.

As part of the deal, which was finalized without disclosing financial terms, Upslope’s production will be relocated to Wilding’s state-of-the-art “Canworks” brewery in Denver. Wilding Brands CEO Eric Foster stated, “Since day one, our goal with Wilding has been to create an incredible family of Colorado craft beverage companies that retain their individuality.”

Foster emphasized that Upslope aligns perfectly with Wilding’s vision, which aims to support and enhance local brewing identities while ensuring high quality. The acquisition will enable Wilding to significantly ramp up production, with expectations of brewing 80,000 barrels across its portfolio, positioning the company as Colorado’s second-largest independent craft producer.

Notably, the two Upslope taprooms in Boulder and an additional location in Silverthorne will continue to operate under their previous management. Wilding confirmed, “The taprooms are not part of the acquisition and remain under the management of the previous owner/operator.” This move ensures that the local customer experience remains intact, fostering community loyalty.

Wilding Brands was formed in 2022 through a merger of notable local companies, including Stem Ciders, Denver Beer Co., and Funkwerks. The leadership team, consisting of industry veterans like Foster, Brad Lincoln, and Charlie Berger, has been instrumental in driving growth in the Colorado craft beverage scene. The company has made headlines recently with other strategic acquisitions, including Great Divide Brewing in April and Station 26 Brewing Co. shortly thereafter.

With this latest acquisition, Wilding is positioned to challenge established operations like Fort Collins-based Odell Brewing Co., which topped the Brewers Association’s 2024 list with over 98,000 barrels produced last year.

The acquisition of Upslope Brewing is expected to have a substantial impact on the craft beer market in Colorado. The move not only reflects Wilding’s aggressive growth strategy but also signifies a shift in the competitive landscape for craft breweries across the state.

As Wilding Brands continues to expand, industry insiders and consumers alike are eager to see how the integration of Upslope Brewing will unfold. Expect more updates as this story develops.
