A two-year-old collie named Whisp survived a dramatic fall of nearly 100 feet from a cliff on the Scottish island of Shetland. The incident occurred on March 14, 2024, at around 11:10 a.m. when Whisp fell from a rocky ledge near Heylor. Fortunately, rescue teams were able to respond quickly, ensuring his safe recovery.
Members of the HM Coastguard rushed to the scene, where they faced a challenging terrain. Due to the cliffs’ steepness, rescuers could not reach Whisp from the seaside. Instead, they utilized rope equipment to hoist the collie back up to safety, covering a height of approximately 98 feet. It took about three hours for the rescue team to bring Whisp back to solid ground.
In a statement, the coastguard reported that Whisp was “safe and well” after the fall, describing him as “remarkably unscathed.” Photographs captured during the rescue show the exuberant dog happily posing with his rescuers, clearly overjoyed to be reunited with his owner. The coastguard expressed relief, stating, “Thankfully, a happy ending for Whisp.”
