UPDATE: A Fremont man, Varun Suresh, 29, is facing serious charges after allegedly murdering an elderly registered sex offender, David Brimmer, 71, in a brutal attack that has shocked the local community. The incident, which left Brimmer dead from multiple stab wounds, occurred in a neighborhood near Fremont Hills.
During a court hearing at the East County Hall of Justice in Dublin, Suresh’s attorney requested an extension for entering a plea due to concerns regarding Suresh’s mental health. The judge granted this request, allowing more time for the defense to prepare. Suresh is expected back in court on December 17, 2023.
Authorities report that Suresh allegedly used the Megan’s Law website, which tracks registered sex offenders’ addresses, to target Brimmer. Posing as a door-to-door accountant seeking clients, Suresh coaxed Brimmer into his home before attacking him with a knife. The chilling details reveal that Suresh chased Brimmer, ultimately cornering him in a nearby kitchen, where he fatally stabbed him multiple times.
After the attack, Suresh reportedly stood calmly, smoked a cigarette, and surrendered to police. Initial reports labeled the incident as a fight, but further investigation revealed it was part of Suresh’s premeditated plot to kill individuals he deemed “child molesters” and “sex offenders.”
In his chilling confession to investigators, Suresh admitted choosing Brimmer because he considered him “easy to kill” and expressed a disturbing viewpoint on the perceived lack of victimhood associated with white men. “I’m hoping … that because he’s a pedophile … like, everyone hates pedophiles … so like, it should be cool,” Suresh said, as reported by police.
Brimmer had a long history of sexual offenses involving children, with four prior convictions recorded in Alameda County between 1995 and 2004. The situation has escalated community fears, marking Fremont’s fifth homicide of the year.
