UPDATE: The Townsend Public Library is set to ignite the holiday spirit with a special “Nutcracker Ballet Story Time” on Tuesday, November 25, 2023, at 6 p.m. This exciting event will take place at the library, located at 12 Dudley Road, and features live performances by dancers from the North Central Youth Ballet (NCYB).
Join families and children for an enchanting evening where the classic tale of “The Nutcracker” comes to life. As dancers showcase mesmerizing routines in their festive costumes, a narrator will recount the beloved story, creating a magical experience that promises to delight audiences of all ages.
The North Central Youth Ballet, a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering young talent, will perform selected pieces from their upcoming production. Directors Karen Brown and Megan Simisky are passionate about providing young dancers with professional ballet experiences, which culminate in this community-focused event.
“This event is the perfect way to kick off your holiday season,” said Simisky. “When you watch ballet in person, it creates excitement and inspires true joy, making you feel like you participated just by being there.”
Following the story time, the NCYB will stage their full production of “The Nutcracker” at North Middlesex Regional High School, with performances scheduled for Friday, December 5, at 6 p.m., and two shows on Saturday, December 6, at noon and 6 p.m. The school is located at 19 Main St.
