A single-vehicle accident on the Natchez Trace Parkway has resulted in two individuals being transported to a hospital via helicopter for medical treatment. The incident occurred on March 15, 2024, between mile markers 4 and 5, prompting a rapid response from local authorities.
According to Adams County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson, Travis Patten, the driver experienced issues with the vehicle’s engine. The driver initially stopped on the roadside to allow the car to cool down after it began to overheat. “When they started driving again, it started acting up and pulled hard to the right and off the roadway,” Patten explained.
Emergency responders arrived quickly on the scene and assessed the condition of both individuals involved in the accident. Given the severity of their injuries, they were airlifted to a nearby medical facility for urgent care.
The Natchez Trace Parkway has been a vital route for both local and visiting motorists, known for its scenic views and historical significance. Following the accident, authorities have urged drivers to remain vigilant and responsive to vehicle performance, especially in hot weather conditions.
