The 2025 Beacon-News/Courier-News Girls Volleyball All-Area Team showcases exceptional talent, with four players from the standout St. Charles North team earning top honors. These athletes have made significant contributions to their teams, demonstrating skill and dedication throughout the season.
Haley Burgdorf, a senior outside hitter from St. Charles North, leads the charge with an impressive record of 435 kills, 198 digs, 52 aces, and 23 blocks. Her accolades include being named an Under Armour All-American and a first-team all-state player, along with recognition as a two-time DuKane Conference Player of the Year. Burgdorf has committed to play at Penn State next season.
Also from St. Charles North, Camryn Boyd, a freshman outside hitter, showcased her potential with 291 kills, 178 digs, 35 aces, and 24 blocks. Her performance earned her honorable mention all-state and all-conference recognition.
Another rising star is Rylie Carlson of Newark, a sophomore outside hitter. With 262 kills, 214 digs, and 25 blocks, she made the first team all-state and all-conference lists, establishing herself as a key player in her team’s success.
The All-Area Team also highlights stellar performances from other athletes. Paige Genke, a senior setter from South Elgin, had a remarkable season, recording 579 assists and finishing her high school career with a total of 1,536 career assists. Her leadership on the court earned her team MVP honors and two-time all-conference recognition, with a commitment to D’Youville.
Another standout is Hannah Herrick from Oswego, who contributed significantly with 326 kills, 256 digs, 41 aces, and 21 blocks. She was named second team all-state and her team MVP, further solidifying her status as an exceptional player.
The list continues with other talented players such as Elizabeth King from Hampshire, who reached a milestone of over 1,000 career kills, and Ella Maxwell of West Aurora, who was named Upstate Eight West’s player of the year after recording 561 assists this season.
Mia McCall, also a senior setter from St. Charles North, contributed significantly to her team with 767 assists and was recognized as an honorable mention all-state player. In addition, Kylie Lambert from Hampshire showcased her versatility with 428 assists and 63 kills, earning her team MVP honors.
The All-Area selections not only highlight individual accomplishments but also the collaborative spirit that defines high school volleyball. Players from various teams have come together to create a competitive landscape that fosters talent and sportsmanship.
