Riot Games Unveils Riftbound: Spiritforged Launch Dates and Details

UPDATE: Riot Games has just revealed exciting new details about the highly anticipated Riftbound: Spiritforged, set to launch in English on February 13, 2026. This expansion for the popular trading card game will first debut in China on December 12, 2025. Players can expect a wealth of new content, including 12 Champion Legends and innovative mechanics that promise to enhance gameplay dramatically.

Among the standout Champions featured in this expansion are Rek’Sai, Draven, Irelia, Rumble, Lucian, Sivir, Azir, Ezreal, Ornn, Renata Glasc, Fiora, and Jax. This diverse roster is set to energize the game, offering players fresh strategies and playstyles.

The expansion introduces three groundbreaking mechanics: Equipment, Gold, and Repeat. Equipment cards can now remain in play even after their units are defeated, providing lasting tactical advantages. Gold tokens, associated with champions like Draven and Renata, will allow for flexible power generation in the heat of battle. Additionally, the Repeat mechanic enables players to pay a card’s cost a second time, amplifying its effects for even greater impact.

Riot Games indicates that Spiritforged draws inspiration from the steelwork themes prevalent in its design, mixed with the mysticism of Ionia’s Spirit Blossom universe. This combination enriches both card designs and champion identities, enhancing the overall player experience.

At PAX Unplugged, Riot also unveiled further details, including Signature variants for select Overnumbered cards and cross-set synergies with the existing Origins set. Game director Dave Guskin emphasized that community feedback from Origins significantly influenced the development of Spiritforged.

Looking ahead, Riot confirmed the release of three additional Riftbound sets throughout 2026: Unleashed in May, Vendettas in Q3, and Radiance later in the year. Unleashed will introduce new Champion Legends such as Vi, Rengar, and Master Yi. Vendettas will delve into long-standing rivalries with champions including Akali, Mel, and Ambessa.

Competitive players will also have opportunities to showcase their skills, with the first English Regional Qualifier scheduled for December 5-7 in Houston. Additional qualifiers will take place in Bologna, Italy from February 20-22 and in Las Vegas from February 27-March 1. Riot plans to host 12 Regional Qualifiers throughout 2026, with further details expected soon.

“We learned a tremendous amount from how players engaged with Origins,” Guskin stated. “Spiritforged builds on that foundation with new Champion Legends, new mechanics, and even greater collectability. We can’t wait to see what players create next.”
