Beloved Mother Alice Kirby Passes Away, Leaving Legacy of Love

URGENT UPDATE: The community of Pelham, NH is mourning the loss of beloved mother and grandmother, Alice Rita (Cromey) Kirby, who passed away on November 21, 2025, surrounded by her five children and family. This heart-wrenching moment, though filled with sorrow, was marked by laughter and cherished memories as family members recalled Alice’s joyful spirit and her unwavering love.

Alice, born on March 31, 1941, dedicated her life to nurturing her family and serving her community. Throughout her 84 years, she became a beacon of compassion, stepping in to help anyone in need. Her commitment to community service was evident when she actively participated in conservation efforts, particularly when she and fellow committee members devoted Saturday mornings to saving their town’s historic elm trees from decline.

Alice’s academic journey began at Monmouth College in NJ, where she earned an education degree in the early 1960s. She later enhanced her qualifications with a Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Rivier College. Her professional and civic contributions included serving as a Selectman in Pelham and holding various positions on local boards and committees.

Alice is survived by her five devoted children: Maria Kirby of Somersworth, NH, Gretchen Kirby of Amesbury, MA, Jennifer Kirby Macek and husband David of Kensington, NH, Joseph Kirby and wife Christine of Gorham, ME, and Ira Kirby and wife Andrea of Amesbury, MA. She also leaves behind a legacy of love through her 14 grandchildren, who are deeply affected by her passing.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects on Friday, November 28, 2025, at the Pelham Funeral Home, located at 11 Nashua Rd, Pelham, from 4 to 7 P.M. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at St. Patrick’s Church in Pelham at 11:00 A.M. Committal prayers will follow at Gibson Cemetery.
