URGENT UPDATE: Celebrity chef Guy Fieri has been sidelined after a serious injury while filming his Food Network show, Flavor Town Food Fight. The incident occurred just before Thanksgiving when Fieri tore his quad muscle in half, requiring emergency surgery. He is currently relying on a wheelchair and crutches for mobility.
Fieri spoke with Fox News Digital about the accident, explaining, “I slipped down a set of steps and one foot went forward and the other foot got caught on the threshold. So, you know, it extended me out.” He described the injury as unprecedented; his doctor noted he had never seen such a severe tear in the muscle’s thickest part in his 20 years of practice.
The injury forced a halt in production, impacting a set filled with 125 people who were ready to film. “We were right in the middle of filming that and I’m in surgery,” Fieri shared. “We figured out how to pivot through it and to have some creative filming techniques.”
Fieri’s Thanksgiving plans have dramatically changed, as he will be off his feet for approximately eight weeks. His sons and nephew have stepped up to take over the cooking duties. “Oh, it’s going to affect it because I’m on crutches and in a wheelchair,” he reflected. “I mean, I have to stay off it and the whole thing.”
His son, Ryder, texted him from school, ready to take on the culinary challenge. “I am so happy you’re asking me about this versus me telling you, you have to do it,” Fieri noted, expressing pride in his sons, Hunter, Ryder, and Jules, who are all skilled in the kitchen.
As Thanksgiving approaches, Fieri will be “quarterbacking from the wheelchair,” guiding his family in preparing meals for about 40 people. “It’s going to be an adventure,” he said.
This developing story highlights not only Fieri’s resilience but also the spirit of family and community that defines the holiday season. Stay tuned for more updates on Fieri’s recovery and the impact on his culinary endeavors.
