A single ticket sold in Georgia has matched all six numbers in the recent Mega Millions drawing, resulting in a staggering jackpot of approximately $980 million or $452.2 million in cash. This win, which took place on November 14, 2025, marks the largest Mega Millions payout in the state’s history and ranks as the eighth-largest jackpot awarded in the game’s history.
The jackpot had been accumulating since June 27, a duration of 40 consecutive drawings, which is now recognized as the longest stretch in Mega Millions history. During this period, players across the United States collected nearly 14.3 million prizes totaling over $343 million in non-jackpot winnings, including 21 second-tier prizes worth $2 million or more.
While the winning numbers for the drawing were 1, 8, 11, 12, 57 and Mega Ball 7, the identity of the winner remains a mystery. Under Georgia law, individuals who win lottery prizes of $250,000 or more have the option to remain anonymous. To do so, the winner must submit a written request to the Georgia Lottery, allowing them to keep their name, address, and any identifying information confidential.
The winning ticket was purchased at a Publix supermarket located in Newnan, Georgia, approximately 40 miles southwest of Atlanta. Georgia Lottery President and CEO Gretchen Corbin expressed excitement over the win, stating, “We are thrilled to congratulate the largest winner in our state’s history. With every Mega Millions ticket sold in Georgia supporting HOPE and Pre-K, Georgia’s students and families are also big winners.”
The recent win stands out not only for its size but also because it marks the first year since 2020 without a Mega Millions jackpot exceeding $1 billion. The previous record jackpots include $1.602 billion won in Florida on August 8, 2023, and $1.537 billion in South Carolina on October 23, 2018.
