Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP has successfully represented Vistra, a leading integrated retail electricity and power generation company, in securing a significant power purchase agreement (PPA) with Meta. Announced on January 16, 2026, the agreement spans 20 years and aims to deliver over 2,600 megawatts of zero-carbon nuclear energy from three of Vistra’s plants in the PJM region.
This landmark deal has garnered support from key public figures, including Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and U.S. Senators Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio) and Dave McCormick (R-Pa.). The PPAs encompass both existing generation capabilities of 2,176 MW and additional capacity from planned nuclear uprates contributing 433 MW.
Strengthening Clean Energy Infrastructure
Iskender “Alex” H. Catto, an attorney at Greenberg Traurig, played a pivotal role in advising Vistra on this transaction. The agreements not only secure the ongoing operation of Vistra’s Beaver Valley, Davis-Besse, and Perry nuclear power plants but also foster expansion efforts. These long-term commitments are expected to maintain and create thousands of jobs, thereby bolstering local economies and enhancing Vistra’s investments in clean energy infrastructure.
The new agreements are set to commence in late 2026, with full capacity anticipated to become available by 2034. This initiative underscores Vistra’s dedication to advancing sustainable energy solutions while contributing to regional economic growth.
