Community Mourns the Passing of Musician Jim Noehring at 58

Jim Noehring, a beloved musician and community member from Brainerd, Minnesota, passed away on February 28, 2026, at the age of 58. With a vibrant life dedicated to music, family, and friendships, Jim’s legacy will resonate with many who knew him.

Born on September 7, 1967, Jim shared nearly 25 years of his life with his partner, Kristen Krueger. Together, they nurtured a close-knit family that included his bonus children, Devan and Sydney. Jim found immense joy in his role as a grandfather, cherishing the time he spent with his grandchildren. As the youngest of six siblings, he had a unique dynamic with his five older brothers and sisters, which included Mike Noehring of Lakeville, John Noehring from Bemidji, Mary Jane Santele of Plymouth, and Joan Duffy from Chisago. He was also a cherished uncle to 18 nieces and nephews.

Jim’s early education culminated at Bemidji State University, where he earned a degree in Finance. His professional journey included a significant 18-year tenure at Mills GM as a car salesman, where his friendly demeanor made him a familiar face. More recently, he served as a bartender at Eagle’s Landing Golf Course, where he was known for his quick wit and warm smile, fostering lasting relationships with patrons and colleagues.

Music was a central passion in Jim’s life. An accomplished guitarist, he performed with various local bands, including Northern Zephyr Smoke. His musical talent shone through not only in public performances but also during intimate gatherings with family and friends. Whether around a campfire or in front of a crowd, Jim’s creativity and virtuosity brought joy and uplifted spirits.

In addition to music, Jim enjoyed cooking and spending quality time at home with Kristen. He cherished outdoor activities such as fishing and hunting at the family’s cabin on Leech Lake. Traveling to destinations like Costa Rica, Arizona, and South Carolina enriched his life experiences.

Jim’s ability to make others laugh and feel welcomed left a lasting impression on everyone he met. His stories, songs, and sharp sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will live on in the many stories shared around campfires, filled with laughter and music.
