Gwen Stefani has opened up about her spiritual journey and motherhood, sharing how becoming pregnant at the age of 43 significantly transformed her life. In a recent interview on the Hallow: Prayers and Meditation YouTube channel, the 56-year-old singer revealed that the desire to have another child reignited her interest in Christianity.
During the interview, Stefani discussed her son Apollo Bowie Flynn Rossdale, born when she was 44, and how his prayerful wish for a sibling impacted her perspective. “I really wanted to have another baby. I really did. I couldn’t and I was old and started talking about all these things…it was waking me up,” she explained. The singer recalled how her oldest son, Kingston Rossdale, who is now 8 years old, often prayed for her to have another child. “He was like, ‘Please God, let my mommy have a baby. I just remember thinking, look at my little boy. He’s praying for me!”
Stefani noted that Kingston had never been prompted to pray for a sibling, adding, “I never taught him that, really.” Remarkably, just four weeks after his prayers began, she found out she was pregnant with Apollo, describing the experience as “totally a full-on gift.”
Gwen Stefani also expressed the pressures she felt surrounding her newfound faith. “It’s almost scary because the more you know, the more fear you get,” she stated, reflecting on the urgency she felt to deepen her understanding of Christianity. “You realize, ‘Oh my gosh, I’m running out of time and I need to get this together. I’ve got to be a real Christian! I’m not gonna make it.’”
Her journey into faith has been influenced by her connection with Pastor Mike Schmitz and his sermons, which she credits with helping her find “this truth.” Since then, Stefani has partnered with the Hallow app, a Catholic prayer resource that aims to guide users in their spiritual practices.
Despite its popularity, the app has faced criticism, including comments from reality television star Chrishell Stause, who previously called out Stefani regarding her association with the platform. Nevertheless, Stefani remains committed to her faith journey and the role it plays in her life.
Through her candid reflections, Stefani illustrates how personal experiences—such as motherhood and prayer—can inspire profound spiritual growth. As she continues to explore her faith, her story resonates with many who seek connection and purpose in their lives.
