Actors Jim Carrey and Taylor Momsen shared a special moment at the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, marking their first reunion in 25 years. The pair, known for their roles in the beloved holiday film How the Grinch Stole Christmas, posed for photographs on the red carpet at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles before the event.
Momsen, now 32, donned an elegant black dress featuring lace accents and a leg slit, complemented by a black leather coat and calf-high boots. Carrey, 63, opted for a casual yet stylish look with a black graphic T-shirt layered under a black-and-white striped blazer, paired with black dress pants. Reflecting on their time apart, Momsen expressed her surprise, stating, “We haven’t seen each other since the Grinch. Twenty-five!” This statement was captured by KNX News.
Celebrating Soundgarden’s Induction
Both actors attended the ceremony to honor the legendary rock band Soundgarden, which was officially inducted into the Hall of Fame. Carrey, who hosted a memorable episode of Saturday Night Live in 1996 featuring Soundgarden as the musical guest, delivered a heartfelt tribute to the band during the induction.
Momsen, who played the iconic character Cindy Lou Who in the 2000 film, showcased her musical talent by performing “Rusty Cage” and “Black Hole Sun” alongside notable musicians including Brandi Carlile, Mike McCready of Pearl Jam, and Jerry Cantrell from Alice in Chains. Her band, Pretty Reckless, previously opened for Soundgarden’s final tour before the tragic passing of lead singer Chris Cornell in 2017.
Nostalgic Reflections
During a recent appearance on the November 5 episode of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, Momsen reminisced about her time working with Carrey. As a child of just 7 years, she recalled being unaware of Carrey’s identity until the premiere of the film. “Jim Carrey is the Grinch,” she noted, adding that she was surprised to learn who he was when someone pointed him out at the premiere. “He was never scary to me. To me, he was always Jim, and he was always in makeup,” she commented.
The 25th anniversary of How the Grinch Stole Christmas will be celebrated with a limited theatrical return on December 12, 2025, according to Parade. The film is also available for streaming on platforms like Peacock and Prime Video.
