The inaugural season of Netflix’s reality competition series, Physical: Asia, concluded with Team Korea emerging as the champions after a gripping finale. After twelve episodes filled with intense challenges, the competition featured 48 contestants from eight different countries across Asia, with one team eliminated at the end of each round.
In the final showdown, Team Korea faced off against Team Mongolia in a series of three demanding games, which included wall-pushing, iron ball dragging, and infinite tail tagging. Ultimately, Team Korea’s performance secured them a resounding victory and the title of first champions of Physical: Asia.
Victory Highlights and Prize Details
The winning team consisted of notable athletes: Kim Dong-hyun, a seasoned MMA fighter; Kim Min-jae, a ssireum wrestler; Jang Eun-sil, another wrestler; Amotti, a CrossFitter; Choi Seung-yeon, also a CrossFitter; and Yun Sung-bin, a former skeleton racer. Their victory not only marked a significant achievement for the team but also came with a substantial prize of one billion won, equivalent to approximately $700,000.
Reflecting on the triumph, Kim Dong-hyun expressed heartfelt gratitude, stating, “I was an MMA fighter for about 20 years, and throughout all those years, the championship belts, all those gold medals, they were always out of reach.” He added, “Maybe I was unlucky, or maybe I just wasn’t good enough. I used to beat myself up for it all the time. But winning Physical: Asia on behalf of Korea with this team means more than any medal or belt I could’ve won on my own. This is truly the honor of my career. I’m just so grateful.”
Significance of the Win for Team Members
This victory holds particular significance for Amotti, who has now won twice in the Netflix franchise, having previously triumphed in Physical: 100 Season 2. The achievement not only highlights the competitive spirit of the athletes but also underscores the growing popularity of reality competition series in Asia.
As the series comes to a close, it leaves a lasting impression on its viewers, showcasing the determination and resilience of its contestants. The success of Physical: Asia paves the way for future seasons and potential spin-offs, captivating audiences with its blend of physical challenges and personal stories.
