Tiny Desk Contest 2026 Opens for Unsigned Artists to Shine

The 2026 Tiny Desk Contest has officially opened for entries, inviting unsigned artists to showcase their talent. From now until February 9, 2026, musicians can submit their entries on the Tiny Desk Contest website. The winner will have the opportunity to perform at a Tiny Desk concert held at NPR headquarters in Washington, D.C., and receive mentorship from industry professionals, along with headlining a tour across ten cities.

This year’s contest features a diverse panel of judges eager to discover fresh talent. Among the returning judges are Bobby Carter and Robin Hilton, who have long been associated with Tiny Desk. Joining them is Anamaria Sayre, co-host of Alt.Latino, who has produced Tiny Desk concerts for various indie artists and played a role in elevating the careers of talents like Silvana Estrada and Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso.

The panel also includes several notable artists. Tierra Whack, a creative force in the music industry, will lend her expertise, alongside Katie Crutchfield, known for her work as the singer-songwriter of Waxahatchee. Madison McFerrin, a favorite from the 2025 Tiny Desk Contest, is back as a judge. It is noteworthy that Madison herself submitted to the contest in 2017.

Additional judges come from various music member stations, including Celia Gregory from WNXP in Nashville, recognized for her appearances on All Songs Considered, and Alex Marrero from KUTX in Austin, who has previously performed a Tiny Desk concert with his band, Brownout. Jessica Linker, founder of Pitch Perfect PR, rounds out the panel, bringing over two decades of experience in championing new artists.

The judges are on the lookout for an artist ready to elevate their career, whether by presenting an innovative sound or a unique perspective. Past winners of the Tiny Desk Contest have achieved remarkable success, including Grammy awards for Fantastic Negrito and Tank and the Bangas, as well as contributions to Broadway by Gaelynn Lea and festival headlining by Ruby Ibarra.

While the contest aims to crown one winner, it also serves as a platform for numerous talented artists who may not win but still gain valuable exposure. Many participants find creative challenges, increased visibility through NPR Music’s social media platforms, and a supportive community of independent artists through their involvement in the contest.

For those interested in entering, additional information can be found in the Tiny Desk Contest FAQ section on the official website. The Tiny Desk Contest offers a unique opportunity for artists to advance their musical journey and connect with a wider audience.
