Mary Margaret “Peggy” Putanko, aged 87, passed away on October 8, 2025, in her home located in Simpsonville, South Carolina. Known for her warmth and devotion, Peggy leaves behind a legacy of love and family.
Born on June 1, 1938, in Edenborn, Peggy was the daughter of the late Stephen and Margaret Havrilla Plisko. She dedicated her life to her family, particularly as a loving wife to her husband, Joseph Putanko, who predeceased her in June 2017 after 56 years of marriage. Peggy’s life was also touched by the loss of her brother, Edward Plisko, and her cherished dog, Daisy.
Peggy is survived by her daughter, Jodie Putanko Cales, and son-in-law, Kevin Cales. Their family is completed by her granddaughter, Madison Cales. Additionally, she is survived by her siblings, including Elaine Chury (the late Richard), Lanny Plisko (Elaine), Marlene Guappone, Judi Kolencik (Edward), and Kenny Plisko (Jani), as well as her sister-in-law, Vanessa Plisko, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held to honor her memory. Peggy’s impact on her family and friends will be felt deeply, as she embodied the spirit of love and community throughout her life.
