Community Mourns the Loss of Beloved Educator Gail Reed Breece

Gail Reed Breece, a dedicated speech therapist and educator, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on January 27, 1951, in Sacramento, California, she spent her life devoted to helping children find their voices. Breece’s impact on her students and community will be remembered by many who benefited from her unwavering support and encouragement.

Throughout her career, Breece dedicated herself to empowering children with communication challenges. Her work as a speech therapist reflected her deep commitment to education and the belief that every child deserves the opportunity to express themselves fully.

In 1977, she married Steven Breece, and together they raised five daughters, forming a close-knit family that enjoyed countless moments together. Breece found great joy in her role as a mother and grandmother, welcoming eight grandchildren into their family.

Gail was known for her warmth, kindness, and infectious spirit. She cherished simple pleasures, including swimming, nature walks, Tootsie rolls, hot chocolate, and watching romantic comedies. Her family and friends will remember her not only for her professional accomplishments but also for her genuine love and support.

Tragically, she was preceded in death by her husband Steven, her daughter Katherine, her parents Rosemary and Calvin, and her siblings Bob, Bill, and Susan. She is survived by her daughters Andrea, Victoria (Dmitry), Elizabeth (Joe), and Samantha, along with her eight grandchildren and many extended family members and friends.

Celebration of Life Planned

To honor her memory, a Celebration of Life will be held on February 21 from 13:00 to 15:00 at Elks Lodge #6 in Sacramento, California. This gathering will provide an opportunity for family, friends, and the community to share their memories and celebrate the remarkable life of Gail Reed Breece.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to local public schools, reflecting Breece’s lifelong dedication to education and her belief in supporting future generations.

Gail Reed Breece’s legacy as a loving mother, grandmother, and friend will continue to inspire those who knew her. Her commitment to uplifting others and her passion for education will leave an indelible mark on the hearts of many.
