Eureka Woman’s Club Marks 125 Years with Community Donations

The Eureka Woman’s Club is gearing up for its 125th anniversary in 2026, celebrating a legacy of community service, leadership, and philanthropy in Humboldt County. Originally established on February 2, 1901, as the Monday Club Association of Eureka, the organization adopted its current name in 1923. Over the years, it has become an integral part of the fabric of local society, focusing on the betterment of the community through cultural, educational, and social initiatives.

In its long history, the Eureka Woman’s Club has been affiliated with both the California Federation of Women’s Clubs and the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, linking it to one of the largest and oldest volunteer organizations for women worldwide. Its guiding motto, “In essentials, unity. In non-essentials, liberty. In all things, charity,” encapsulates the club’s enduring mission.

Celebrating a Milestone with Monthly Donations

As part of its 125th-anniversary celebrations, the club is launching a “Gifts of Appreciation” initiative. This program involves monthly donations of $125 to local nonprofit organizations that enhance the well-being of the community. The first “Gift of Appreciation” was presented this month to the Boys & Girls Club of the Redwoods during the club’s monthly business meeting, underscoring its commitment to supporting local initiatives.

The Eureka Woman’s Club currently has 65 members and continues to welcome individuals dedicated to service, community improvement, and fellowship. In addition to the donation program, the club will host a special community celebration titled “The 125th Anniversary Dance.” This event is scheduled for April 18 at the club’s historic Craftsman-style clubhouse located at 1531 J St., Eureka. The celebration will feature a performance by Dr. Squid and aims to honor the club’s rich history while looking forward to its next century of service.
