As the holiday season approaches, Keller Public Safety has reintroduced its initiative, “Operation Gift Guardians,” to protect residents’ holiday packages from theft. Beginning on November 28 and running through December 24, this program allows residents of Keller and Westlake to have their online purchases delivered directly to the Keller Police Station, ensuring the safety of their parcels.
The program, as detailed in a recent social media announcement by Keller Public Safety, aims to combat the growing problem of porch theft during the festive season. Residents can send their packages to 330 Rufe Snow Dr., where they will be secured under advanced monitoring systems and the watchful eyes of uniformed officers.
This initiative is particularly beneficial for those who may not be home to receive their deliveries promptly. With the increase in online shopping, the program addresses community concerns regarding package theft. “Don’t worry, y’all! We’re here to help,” the department reassured residents, underscoring their dedication to safeguarding holiday gifts.
To participate in “Operation Gift Guardians,” residents must use their legal names for shipping details and present a photo ID when collecting their packages from the police station. This requirement ensures that every gift reaches its intended recipient, minimizing the risk of misdelivery or theft.
The program has established specific guidelines, including a weight limit for packages, which is capped at 50 lbs. This restriction is in place to ease the burden on volunteers who assist with the handling and distribution of the gifts.
