The 2025 Merry Christmas Fund has quickly made progress, reaching over 5% of its ambitious goal of $50,000 within just five days of launching. As of today, the fund has received a total of $2,985.09 in donations, including contributions from outside Pennsylvania for the first time.
Among the most recent donations, several individuals have made heartfelt contributions, dedicating their gifts in memory of loved ones. Notable donations include $150 from John E. O’Brien of Aston, who expressed his gift “In loving memory of our parents, June and Henry O’Brien.” Patricia Woznicki of Media contributed $100 in memory of Sande and Pat Walton, while Lawrence Worrilow of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, gave $100 in memory of Thomas H. and Amelia Worrilow Sr.
Other notable contributions include $250 from Krystina I. Masterson of Longs, South Carolina, dedicated to the memory of Shirley Ostrander. Local supporters also joined in, with Bob Hughes of Swarthmore donating $100 simply with a message of “Merry Christmas,” and an anonymous donor from Aston contributing $30.09 with the same festive sentiment. Carol Ann Kruklis of Springfield also gave $100 in memory of Ed and Edna Roberts.
The Merry Christmas Fund, which is managed by the Salvation Army Chester Corps, aims to provide assistance to families in need during the holiday season. Updates on the total amount raised and a list of contributors will be published by The Daily Times. Donors wishing to be acknowledged are encouraged to include a brief holiday message with their contributions.
