Sioux Falls Groups Launch Clothing Drive for Undergarment Donations

Indivisible 605 and Remedy Brewing are collaborating on a crucial clothing drive in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, aimed at collecting undergarments for those in need. The initiative, which began on February 11, 2026, highlights the often-overlooked importance of donating items like underwear and socks, particularly as colder weather approaches.

Addressing a Critical Need

While numerous winter clothing drives focus on outerwear such as coats, hats, and gloves, many overlook the essential items that people wear underneath. Andrew Cedergren, a local organizer for Indivisible 605, emphasized that “underwear and socks are the least donated items.” By concentrating on these specific needs, the drive aims to significantly contribute to the community’s support for those experiencing homelessness or financial hardship.

Aaron Nelson, Event Coordinator at Remedy Brewing, noted that this drive differentiates itself from others due to the nature of the items being collected. “A lot of people don’t really think about that,” he stated. “People always forget about the undergarments.” This initiative seeks to raise awareness about the necessity of these often-ignored items.

Community Engagement and Impact

The collection bin for donations is located at the back of Remedy Brewing. Since the drive’s inception, the brewery has already filled one bin and is eager to continue its efforts. Nelson expressed hope, saying, “If we can empty it about three more times before then, that would be absolutely amazing and help a lot of individuals out.”

Both Indivisible 605 and Remedy Brewing encourage the community to contribute, highlighting that whether it’s food, money, time, or clothing, participation plays a crucial role in social responsibility. Cedergren added, “It’s just being a part of society, and nowadays it’s more important than ever.”

The drive will conclude on February 22, 2026, coinciding with Remedy’s Brunch Fest, which starts at 10:00 a.m. on that date. Attendees are encouraged to wear onesies, making it a fun opportunity to donate socks and underwear while enjoying breakfast.

Through this clothing drive, Indivisible 605 and Remedy Brewing aim to address a pressing need within the community and foster a spirit of generosity as winter approaches.
