A man from Manchester, New Hampshire, has been arrested for allegedly driving the wrong way on Interstate 293 and the F.E. Everett Turnpike early on Sunday, October 29, 2023. Reports indicated that a vehicle was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes near Exit 5 on I-293 around 01:07 a.m.
Trooper Madelynn Theve of the New Hampshire State Police located a silver 2012 Honda Civic still moving in the wrong direction on the turnpike in Bedford. The driver, identified as Benjamin Smith, 25, was taken into custody shortly thereafter.
Charges against Smith include reckless conduct with a deadly weapon and driving while intoxicated. He is scheduled to appear in Merrimack District Court in early November to face these allegations.
