Becky Lynch, a prominent figure in professional wrestling, has confirmed that she has signed her final contract with WWE. This announcement came during the premiere of the second season of WWE Unreal, where she shared her mixed emotions about concluding her wrestling career. Lynch expressed a deep love for the sport and an understanding of the personal sacrifices involved, particularly the challenge of balancing her career with motherhood.
Balancing Career and Family
In her heartfelt reflection, Lynch described the emotional struggle of being away from her child for work commitments. “That guilt is always hard. I had this little kid that I had then been leaving. I felt like when I’d come back, she was angry at me,” she explained. The toll of balancing her roles as a wrestler and a mother weighed heavily on her. Lynch noted that the time away from her family made her feel uncertain about her return, stating, “I hadn’t had enough time with her. The time off, it was maybe gonna be forever.”
She acknowledged that this chapter marks the final phase of her career. “This is probably it, this is the final run. This is the final contract. So I suppose it’s a matter of knowing that, understanding that and enjoying that the best I can,” Lynch said. Her decision to step back comes after a period of reflection and a desire to prioritize her family.
Challenges of Burnout
Throughout 2024, Lynch faced significant fatigue that contributed to her decision to take a break from wrestling. She described feeling “pretty burnt out” and sought time off after discussing her situation with Triple H, WWE’s Chief Content Officer, in May of that year. “I told Hunter, ‘Look, my contract’s up, I wanna take some time off,’ and he said, ‘Ok. Well, look, we’ll pause it. We’ll give you a little bit of time and then we’ll renegotiate the contract when you’re ready,’” Lynch recounted.
Her journey in wrestling has been marked by numerous highs, including her surprise return at WrestleMania 41. During that event, she was the mystery partner for Lyra Valkyria in a tag team match against Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez. This unexpected comeback highlighted her enduring passion for the sport, even as she navigated personal challenges.
Lynch’s decision to step back from the ring underscores the complexities athletes face when balancing professional ambitions with personal responsibilities. As she prepares for this final chapter in her wrestling career, she aims to embrace the moments that lie ahead, both in the ring and at home.
