Diaz, 27, was originally selected by the Atlanta Braves in the 27th round of the 2019 MLB Draft. Over the past three seasons, he has navigated various challenges within the Yankees’ organization, eventually pitching in Double-A for the Somerset Patriots in 2025. His performance at that level was notable, with a robust 2.38 ERA and a 3.35 FIP across 42 appearances. In total, he logged 52.1 innings, allowing just 15 earned runs while recording 46 strikeouts and maintaining a 1.11 WHIP.
Diaz’s journey has not been without its ups and downs. After joining the Yankees from Atlanta alongside current Brewers infielder Caleb Durbin, he initially struggled at the High-A level.
